| | hopeful | ] | Nina is an adorable female tuxedo stray who walked up to me on January 19th. She had no collar, no chip, and was very skinny. I took her in and posted fliers, but no one has responded. Her spay and basic shots were done by a rescue clinic, and on January 24th I took her in to my regular vet for FeLV/FIV testing.
Nina is FIV positive.
Unfortunately, I have a very small apartment and another cat already - I can't keep the two cats separated enough, and Nina can't live in my bathroom forever. She'll be able to live with dogs, but unless the other cats are also FIV positive or you have a lot of space she'll have to be the only feline in the house. She still growls at my resident cat, so I'm not sure how well she'd tolerate a feline housemate, honestly. She'll need regular vet visits and to absolutely be an indoor-only cat, but with loving care there's no reason she shouldn't live a mostly healthy normal lifespan.
Nina's a little over five pounds right now, a long and leggy oriental body type with very serious green/gold eyes. The clinic estimated her age between six months and a year based on her teeth. She's spayed, has had a flea treatment and wormer, and the below vaccinations:
Rabies Panleukopenia Rhinotrachetitis Calcivirus Chlamydia
FeLV (feline leukemia) vaccination was not recommended by the vet.
I'm planning to have her microchipped before she goes on to a home. She's so housebroken she'll walk over to the litter box to vomit (she's stopped throwing up, thankfully). I gave her a quick flea bath with dishsoap, flip checked her to see if I had a boy or girl, and examined her paws to see if she had all her claws without any biting or scratching. She'll yowl, growl, and maybe hiss, but she won't lash out. She loves snuggling, kneads gently without claws, purrs easily, and is a lapcat. She loves drinking out of the sink, uses a scratcher, and free feeds.
I'm in Dallas-Fort Worth (north Texas), but I'm willing to drive or arrange a relay a fair distance to get this little girl a good home.
Thank you in advance for everyone who passes this on.
